Aaron Womack has signed with the Milwaukee Panthers men’s basketball program and will transfer in to play for the team next season, head coach Bart Lundy announced on Apr. 24.
Womack, a 6-foot-6 guard from Milwaukee who played at Dominican High School, joins the Panthers after spending his freshman year as a redshirt at Syracuse in the Atlantic Coast Conference. His addition is expected to strengthen the team’s roster for upcoming Horizon League competition.
“We are very excited to add Aaron to our program,” Lundy said. “Aaron is a high-level player with an even higher level of character. He is a young man who we identified early in his career and offered almost four years ago. It has been fun to watch his development through high school and how he has continued that in his redshirt season at Syracuse.” Lundy also said, “There is no limit on where Aaron can go with his career. He adds a tremendous basketball IQ, as well as size and shooting to our roster. Aaron is an immediate impact player in the Horizon League.”
During his four-year high school career at Dominican, Womack became one of Wisconsin’s top performers. As a senior, he averaged 28.8 points on 60 percent shooting along with 11.1 rebounds per game and was named First-Team All-State by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association while surpassing the 2,000-point milestone.
The Milwaukee Panthers men’s basketball team represents University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee athletics according to the official website. The team competes in NCAA Division I within the Horizon League according to its official site and operates from Milwaukee, Wisconsin as noted online.
Womack’s achievements include being named Athlete of the Week by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and becoming a finalist for “Mr. Basketball” in Wisconsin after posting several standout performances such as scoring 50 points against Milwaukee Hamilton.
