The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team competed in the final days of the Duke Invitational in Durham, North Carolina, as well as the Marquette Invitational held in Milwaukee, according to an April 11 announcement.
These meets are part of the indoor and outdoor season for the team, which participates in various competitions throughout the year according to the official website. The events give student-athletes opportunities to compete at a high level while balancing their academic responsibilities.
At the Duke Invitational, Ty Bauschelt ran a personal-best time of 47.45 seconds in the 400-meter run, finishing 14th overall. His time now ranks fifth in program history. Teammates Zac Schmidt and Anthony Buford also competed with times of 48.13 and a personal best of 48.56 seconds respectively. In the 200-meter dash, Bauschelt finished as Milwaukee’s top runner with a time of 21.49 seconds—placing him seventh all-time for that event within program records.
During field events at Marquette Invitational, Josh Cygan won first place in discus with a throw of 50.88 meters while Aiden Janke placed fourth at 43.40 meters and also recorded a season-best shot put mark of 15.07 meters for first place among Panthers competitors. Other notable performances included Brendan Vlasak finishing second in the 110-meter hurdles (14.91), Zach Moss placing third in both the1500-meter run (4:00.27) and third again alongside Alex Anewenter (fifth) during the5000-meter run.
The team is affiliated with University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee according to its official website and competes at NCAA Division I level as part of Horizon League competition according to its official website. Looking ahead, select athletes will travel next week to Terre Haute for Gibson Invitational or La Crosse for Phil Esten Challenge.
