The Milwaukee Panthers track and field team received two Horizon League Athlete of the Week awards, according to a March 31 announcement from the league office. Natalie Block was named Women’s Runner of the Week, while Josh Cygan earned Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
These recognitions highlight individual achievements within a program that competes in NCAA Division I as part of the Horizon League, according to the official website. The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team participates in both indoor and outdoor meets during their season, as reported by their official website.
Block broke her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles at NC State’s Raleigh Relays with a time of 56.27 seconds, finishing third. She also finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.45 seconds. Block currently holds first place in both events within the Horizon League and has now received her sixteenth weekly accolade during her career at Milwaukee.
Cygan secured his third career weekly award after competing at Illinois State’s Joyce Morton-Kief Invitational. He placed second in discus with a throw of 52.81 meters and recorded a hammer throw mark of 52.49 meters—the tenth-best performance in program history—currently leading the conference for both events.
The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and contributes to its athletic tradition, according to their official website. The team operates from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, supports student-athletes balancing academics and athletics, and represents its university on regional and national stages.
Looking ahead, both teams will compete next at UW-La Crosse’s Ashton May Invitational on Friday, April 3 at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
