Dr. Dan Ebeling, a 1998 graduate and current professor of chemistry at Wisconsin Lutheran College, was recognized as the college’s June 2026 featured alumnus, according to a June 1 announcement. Ebeling began his career at the college in 2001 and now serves as chair of the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences.
Ebeling said he enjoys teaching and helping students grow both scientifically and spiritually. “It isn’t just in the classroom – I have the opportunity to work on really interesting research projects that engage students in industry applications. In all these ways I get to know students as individuals and grow with them scientifically and spiritually,” he said.
Reflecting on influences during his time at Wisconsin Lutheran College, Ebeling credited Dr. Paul Boehlke for having a significant impact on his life as a student, colleague, and friend. “He was instrumental in showing me how science and faith fit together. He also is a model in selflessly caring about other people,” Ebeling said.
Ebeling described recent changes at Wisconsin Lutheran College including new majors such as Data Science, Actuarial Science, and Cybersecurity to adapt to evolving career fields. He also highlighted ongoing commitments: “WLC’s mission and commitment to Christ has not changed… By the grace of God I am surrounded by people who share that commitment and vision for the future.” The college supports academic excellence grounded in Christian values, offers more than 50 undergraduate majors along with graduate programs in education and leadership, fosters community through campus activities and spiritual development opportunities, supports NCAA Division III varsity sports across 18 teams, is associated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, and aims to prepare students for lives dedicated to Christian service through its educational programs, according to the official website.
Sharing personal stories from his time at WLC—such as launching boats for science labs or memorable campus events—Ebeling emphasized relationships built over decades: “Now after 25+ years of teaching at WLC, I cherish the relationships with WLC grads… They also know they have an Ebeling home when they come back to Warrior Camp.”
