Host Green Bay dominated the first half of their Horizon League matchup against Milwaukee, outscoring them 40-14 and securing a 68-45 victory at the Kress Events Center. The Phoenix excelled with over 55 percent shooting in the first half, highlighted by a decisive 17-0 run. Maddy Schreiber was instrumental for Green Bay, contributing 13 points in the first half and finishing with a team-high of 18 points.

“This is a very good and very experienced Green Bay team,” stated Milwaukee’s head coach Kyle Rechlicz. “They came out and were hitting threes … and to counter that we were just struggling to score in the first half.”

Milwaukee faced challenges offensively in the initial half, managing only five field goals. Anna Lutz, Kacee Baumhower, and Jorey Buwalda each scored from beyond the arc during this period. Lutz led her team with ten points overall, while Kamy Peppler added seven points and five rebounds. Izzy Pugh also contributed six points.

In the latter part of the game, Milwaukee managed to outscore Green Bay by three points in the second half, including a fourth-quarter performance where they shot at 46.2 percent efficiency from the field. However, this effort fell short of bridging their early deficit.

“We played more fearless in the second half; we were shooting our shots instead of hesitating,” Rechlicz noted post-game. “I’m proud of who we are … I love coaching this team because there’s no quit in this group; they wanted to get better in the locker room at halftime and they didn’t quit.”

Assists were shared among Peppler, Baumhower, and Kallie Peppler with two each, while Kamy Peppler and Lutz recorded two steals apiece for Milwaukee. Jada Williams, Payton Rechlicz, and Hallie Majoros also hit three-pointers as part of Milwaukee’s eight successful attempts from long range during the game.

Milwaukee is set to conclude its regular season on Thursday evening against Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons at home. The game will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Klotsche Center.
