The Horizon League has announced its Spring Scholar Athletes of the Season, with Milwaukee’s track and field program taking both honors. Divine Aniamaka received the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Season award, while Natalie Block was recognized as the Female Scholar-Athlete.
Natalie Block has been a regular on the Horizon League All-Academic team, achieving this distinction four times in her career, including this season for both indoor and outdoor track. She is also a three-time member of the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. A major in biomedical science, Block graduated with a 3.56 undergraduate GPA and currently maintains a 3.95 GPA in graduate school.
On the track, Block had another successful season. Earlier this month, she qualified for the NCAA Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, earning Second Team All-American honors in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.92 seconds. She also won Horizon League titles this spring in both the 100m and 400m hurdles.
In his second season with Milwaukee Panthers, Divine Aniamaka is studying biomedical engineering. This spring, he earned his first selection to the Horizon League All-Academic Team for outdoor track and was previously named to the league’s Fall Academic Honor Roll during his first eligible semester. He holds a 3.84 undergraduate GPA through four semesters at Milwaukee.
Aniamaka secured the Horizon League championship in triple jump with a mark of 15.39 meters and was the only student-athlete in the conference to exceed 15 meters six times during this outdoor season. He qualified for NCAA West Regionals where he set a new program record with a leap of 15.42 meters.
The Scholar-Athletes of the Season awards are presented three times annually to six student-athletes across all sports sponsored by Horizon League. Aniamaka and Block join Lainey Higgins from women’s soccer who was named Fall Scholar-Athlete of mid-December.
This achievement marks Milwaukee’s first sweep of these honors since fall 2021 when Ari Miller (volleyball) and Paolo Gratton (men’s soccer) were awarded.
