The Milwaukee Athletics Department announced on Mar. 11 that it will host a Kentucky Derby-themed social and scholarship fundraiser on May 2 at the Orthopaedic Hospital of Wisconsin Center, located on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus. The event is scheduled from 4 p.m. to approximately 7 p.m. and aims to raise funds for the Panther Excellence Fund, which supports student-athlete scholarships.
This event is significant as it brings together alumni, supporters, and members of the Panther community to help provide critical resources for more than 300 student-athletes representing Milwaukee across its 15 NCAA Division I programs. Contributions from this fundraiser are intended to support both academic and athletic pursuits for these students.
Ticket packages are available in several tiers: single registration at $100, a ‘Double Your Impact’ package with two tickets for $175, and a ‘Scholarship Advocates’ option offering six tickets for $500. All ticket options include an all-you-can-eat buffet, open bar, ten raffle tickets, and opportunities to interact with Milwaukee student-athletes and staff. Attendees are encouraged to dress in attire inspired by the Kentucky Derby Clubhouse or Lawn Seats.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available at various levels: ‘Triple Crown’ Sponsor ($10,000), ‘Churchill Downs’ Projector Sponsor ($3,500), and Horse Sponsors ($1,000). Those unable to attend can participate as Program Scholarship Sponsors with contributions ranging from $100 to $750 supporting specific areas such as academic support or team meals.
