The Milwaukee Athletic Department announced on June 1 the release of the latest episode of “PounceCast,” a podcast that provides content and stories from Milwaukee Panther Athletics. The episode, hosted by Matt Menzl, features an interview with Mark Goldin, head coach of the Milwaukee women’s tennis team.
Goldin recently completed his third season as head coach, leading the Panthers to their second Horizon League regular-season title in program history and their first since the 2013-14 season. Under his leadership, Nel Van Hout was named Horizon League Player of the Year—the first time a Panther has received this honor. Goldin also guided Nadiia Konieva to First-Team All-League honors, marking another program milestone with two athletes named to the first team for the first time. Other highlights from Goldin’s tenure include a second consecutive win over cross-town rival Marquette and a victory over former league powerhouse UIC, ending a 12-match losing streak dating back to 2014.
Before joining Milwaukee, Goldin served as head coach at Cardinal Stritch University from 2013 to 2021 and worked as assistant general manager at Elite Sports Club in Mequon. His previous accolades include being named Wilson ITA Women’s NAIA National Coach of the Year in 2014, four East Region Wilson ITA Coach of the Year awards, and eight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors for both men’s and women’s teams.
The “PounceCast” was launched by Milwaukee Athletics in January 2023 as a monthly podcast series designed to bring listeners behind-the-scenes perspectives from members across Panther athletics. Previous episodes have featured coaches, alumni, student-athletes, and staff members representing various sports programs at Milwaukee.
The Milwaukee Panthers Women’s Tennis Team competes in dual matches and tournaments within NCAA Division I guidelines as part of Panthers athletics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The team seeks to assist student-athletes in balancing academics with athletic commitments while contributing to UW-Milwaukee’s athletic legacy through seasonal competition and tournament participation, according to the official website.
