Milwaukee Athletics announced on Mar. 31 a new partnership with Learfield’s Milwaukee Panther Sports Properties to secure the first-ever jersey patch sponsor for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers’ 13 Division I athletic programs. This move follows a recent NCAA vote on Jan. 23 that allows such sponsorships, opening what officials describe as a significant branding opportunity in college athletics.

The introduction of jersey patch sponsorship is expected to provide brands with year-round visibility across television, streaming platforms, venues, web, social media, and digital channels. According to the announcement, these efforts could generate more than four million impressions each season across all Panther teams.

Amanda Braun, Director of Athletics at Milwaukee Athletics, said: “The ability to introduce a jersey patch partner is a transformational moment that marks a new era for Milwaukee Athletics. This is one of the most visible and valuable platforms in college sports and creates a new avenue for us to align with a corporate partner that believes in our mission. We’re excited to collaborate with a brand that shares our commitment to excellence and to the success of our student-athletes.” The initiative aims not only at expanding brand reach but also at supporting student-athletes during this period of change within collegiate sports.

Kristina Filipovic, General Manager of Panther Sports Properties, said: “There’s never been a more impactful and visible way to have your brand woven into the fabric of Milwaukee Athletics. We are seeking a corporate partner that recognizes that this is a unique opportunity that goes beyond placing their logo on a jersey and wants to invest in our shared community and enrich the lives our Panther student-athletes during this crucial time in the new era of college sports.” Learfield has previously facilitated similar partnerships at other universities such as Arkansas and UNLV.

The Milwaukee Panthers men’s basketball team represents University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee athletics according to the official website. The team competes in NCAA Division I as part of the Horizon League as noted by university sources, operating from Milwaukee, Wisconsin according to university information.

This development signals an evolving landscape for collegiate sports marketing nationwide. As brands consider participation in this inaugural sponsorship program at Milwaukee Athletics, both school officials and partners anticipate broader engagement opportunities within their fan base.
