Of the 114,823 students attending Milwaukee County schools, 32.3% were Black. White students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 28.4% of Milwaukee County students.
In the previous school year, Black students were also the most common group in Milwaukee County, representing 33% of the student body.
Countywide, Academy of Accelerated Learning had the most even distribution of races, which included 33.5% Hispanic students, 22.5% white students, 16.6% Asian students, 15.2% Black students, 11.6% multiracial students, and 0.6% American Indian students.
In the 2024-25 school year, the total number of students enrolled in public schools in the county dropped 1.7% compared to the previous year.
Wisconsin ranks 22nd in the U.S. for public education spending, with an annual expenditure of over $16,500 per pupil, totaling $13.8 billion.
