The Milwaukee track and field team received three Horizon League Athlete of the Week honors, according to a May 5 announcement from the league office.
These awards recognize outstanding performances by student-athletes in recent competitions. The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team competes in NCAA Division I as part of the Horizon League, according to the official website.
Ty Bauschelt was named Outdoor Runner of the Week for his third-place finish in the 400-meter dash at the Gary Wieneke Memorial hosted by Illinois. He achieved a personal-best time of 47.20 seconds, which is currently first in the Horizon League this season and fifth all-time in program history. This marks his third consecutive week setting a personal best in this event.
Nevia Levenhagen earned Field Athlete of the Week after placing among the top three in two events at the Badger Challenge held in Madison, Wisconsin. She recorded an outdoor career-best long jump of 5.89 meters, ranking second in the conference and eighth on Milwaukee’s all-time list. Levenhagen also finished third in triple jump with a mark of 11.43 meters.
Anthony Buford received Field Athlete of the Week recognition for his runner-up finish in long jump at Illinois’ Gary Wieneke Memorial meet with a season-best leap of 7.24 meters, which currently ranks fifth among conference competitors.
The Panthers are preparing for their next competition at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships scheduled for May 8-10 at Oakland’s Elaine Leigh Track & Field Complex.
The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team participates throughout both indoor and outdoor seasons, supports student-athletes academically and athletically, operates from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and contributes to athletic tradition at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, according to their official website.
