Al Amadou will join the Milwaukee men’s basketball team for the next season, head coach Bart Lundy announced on May 1. Amadou, who is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is transferring from Saint Joseph’s after spending one year with the Hawks.
The addition of Amadou is notable as he was a four-star recruit and previously played at Marquette before redshirting the 2024-25 season. Lundy said, “We are excited to announce the addition of Al Amadou to our men’s basketball program. He is an elite athlete for his size. He is a high-energy, high-character young man that needs an opportunity in an environment to flourish and to reach his potential. He has a great skillset and is complete inside and out. Defensively, he is switchable and can guard a perimeter player, as well as protect the rim. We have high expectations for Al and are excited to get started and be a part of his journey.”
Amadou appeared in 11 games last winter at Saint Joseph’s following a coaching change there, averaging just over six minutes per game while shooting 54 percent from the field. At Marquette during his freshman year, he played in 14 games with a season-high six points against Southern University and shot 67 percent overall.
During his time at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in high school, Amadou became the all-time leading shot blocker with 235 blocks and earned several honors including All-Inter Academic League First Team selection. In his final prep season he averaged ten points, eight rebounds, and five blocks per game.
The Milwaukee Panthers men’s basketball team competes in NCAA Division I within the Horizon League according to their official website. The team represents University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee athletics as reported by their official website and operates out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin according to their official website.
Looking ahead, both Lundy and Amadou aim for growth as part of Milwaukee’s roster changes going into next season.
