Nate Malosa of Raleigh, North Carolina, will join the Milwaukee men’s basketball team for the upcoming season, according to an April 30 announcement by head coach Bart Lundy.

Malosa is transferring from Columbia State Community College in Tennessee, where he led the National Junior College Athletic Association in shot blocking last season. He was named Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-Conference by the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association.

“We are excited to welcome Nate to the program,” Lundy said. “Nate is an inside-out big that is just now scratching the surface on his potential. He is an elite shot-blocker, but can also stretch the floor and shoot the three offensively. His versatility and his size will be an immediate impact on our program. We expect big things of Nate immediately and it will be exciting to watch him grow before our eyes.”

During his freshman year at Columbia State, Malosa started 30 out of 33 games and averaged 9.1 points along with a league-leading 8.5 rebounds per game. He recorded a total of 102 blocks (3.1 per game), leading all players in NJCAA competition, while shooting over 53 percent from the field and more than 44 percent from three-point range.

Malosa had five or more blocked shots in nine games during the season, reaching a high of seven blocks on three occasions—including consecutive games in February—and achieved double-digit rebounds in seventeen contests with nine double-doubles overall. In March, he scored a season-high sixteen points against Walters State and earned TCCAA All-Tournament honors.

Before college, Malosa attended Quality Education Academy and Bull City Prep Academy in North Carolina where he averaged sixteen points, thirteen rebounds, and four blocks per game as one of that state’s top shot blockers.

The Milwaukee Panthers men’s basketball team represents University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee athletics according to its official website.
