The Milwaukee Panthers cross country teams are set to compete in the Phoenix Open on Saturday, September 6, at 11:30 a.m. in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This marks their second consecutive week competing at the same course.

Last week at the Tom Barry Invitational, both Panther squads secured third place finishes. The women’s team scored 71 points out of 11 teams, while the men recorded 74 points for their own third-place result.

This weekend’s race will feature longer distances compared to last week’s event. The women’s race will increase from a 5k to a 6k, and the men will move from a 6k to an 8k.

The women’s team is led by Anelise Egge, who has been named First Team All-Horizon League three times. Egge was the first Panther woman across the line last week with a ninth-place finish. Anna Gallagher finished thirteenth for Milwaukee. Freshman Janiyah Taylor made her debut by placing fourteenth and contributed as “the spark plug for this Milwaukee unit.” Rachel Helm also continued her progress from last season with a fifteenth-place showing.

On the men’s side, Cullen Boyle led Milwaukee with a fourth-place overall finish last weekend. Sam Schreiber followed in seventh place and Will Whiteis completed the top ten finishes for Milwaukee by taking eighth place.

After this weekend’s meet, both teams will have a break before heading to Fort Wayne, Indiana for the Rumble at the Fort Invitational on September 20 at Mastodon Cross Country Course.
