The Milwaukee Panthers men’s track and field team recorded several strong performances on April 18 during the final day of Indiana State’s Gibson Invitational and Wisconsin Lutheran’s Warrior Invitational.
These results highlight the team’s ongoing participation in both indoor and outdoor meets throughout the season, as described by the official website. The events serve as important opportunities for student-athletes to test their abilities against regional competition.
At the Gibson Invitational, Ty Bauschelt led with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter run at 47.47 seconds. Zac Schmidt and Anthony Buford also placed within the top fifteen in that event. Buford later set a personal best in the 200-meter dash, while Matt Scardina competed alongside him. Brendan Vlasak achieved two personal records in hurdle events, finishing seventh in the 110-meter hurdles and thirteenth in the 400-meter hurdles. In field events, Kyril Griffin secured third place with a personal-best triple jump of 14.60 meters.
The Warrior Invitational saw three Panthers qualify for finals in the 100-meter dash, with Frank Wiedmeyer posting a career-best time of 11.00 seconds. Dylan Longworth won the 800-meter run with his own career-best time of 1:56.11, closely followed by Wade Duffek for second place. Additional victories came from Wiedmeyer in long jump and Olu Olu-Akintomide in triple jump.
According to its official website, the Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team is affiliated with University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and competes at NCAA Division I level as part of the Horizon League while operating out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The program also emphasizes supporting student-athletes academically as they contribute to university athletics tradition.
Looking ahead, athletes will compete next week at Louisville’s Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open on April 24-25 and Whitewater’s Drake Alternative on April 24.
