The Milwaukee Panthers men’s soccer team lost 2-1 to Lindenwood on Tuesday night at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Missouri. The defeat leaves the Panthers with a record of 0-1-1, while Lindenwood improved to 2-0-0.

Ollie Weir scored for Milwaukee in the second half to tie the game after the Panthers trailed 1-0 at halftime. Weir headed in a goal at the 58:31 mark, following a sequence of passes from Dominic Zuniga and Alejandro Zuniga.

Milwaukee’s defense limited Lindenwood’s chances after halftime but conceded the deciding goal in the 81st minute when a header off a corner kick put the Lions ahead.

Weir nearly tied it again for Milwaukee, sending a cross from Bienvenu Djunga just over the bar in the 78th minute. Earlier, Daiki Kumakawa almost opened scoring for Milwaukee with a shot that hit the crossbar in the 20th minute.

Lindenwood took its first lead in the 25th minute. Shortly after, Mitch Goodman prevented another goal by clearing a long shot before it crossed into the net.

Goalkeeper Nic Diana recorded five saves for Milwaukee, including a diving stop on a free kick through the wall in the 32nd minute. Djunga also had an attempt from distance late in the first half that was saved by Lindenwood’s goalkeeper.

Lindenwood finished with advantages of 19-12 in total shots and 8-5 in shots on goal. They also earned three of four corner kicks during the match. Milwaukee held 53 percent of possession and Djunga led their offense with five shot attempts.

The Panthers will continue their road trip Thursday with a match against Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
