The Milwaukee Athletic Department announced on Apr. 30 that it achieved its most successful “For the MKE” Giving Challenge to date, raising $105,691 from a record 339 donors.
The event is part of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s annual “414 for UWM Giving Days,” held every April 14 to encourage community support for university programs. The increase in donations represents a 15 percent rise in total donors compared to last year, according to the department.
Panther Fund Director Zach Beaschler said, “Celebrated across the city each year, ‘414 Day’ continues to be a critical day for Milwaukee Athletics, as we get to honor the city that we are fortunate to call home. An all-time high in donor support continues to show the passion and growth for MKE Athletics. Our student-athletes, and staff, thank everyone for giving the gift of Panther Athletics!”
Among individual teams, women’s basketball raised $16,810 while track & field/cross country set a new single-program record with 75 donors this year. Alumni participation ranged from graduates of the Class of 1971 through the Class of 2025; alumni made up about one-third of all donors.
Funds raised included $28,377 directed toward the Panther Excellence Fund supporting student-athletes and coaches—the highest amount contributed to any single fund during this year’s event. The giving challenge aims to strengthen resources available for Panthers’ student-athletes and enhance specific program areas.
The Milwaukee Panthers women’s track and field team participates in both indoor and outdoor competitions throughout their season according to their official website. The team contributes significantly to athletics at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee per its official site, competing as part of NCAA Division I athletics within the Horizon League as indicated by their website. They also assist student-athletes with balancing academic responsibilities alongside athletic commitments as noted on their site and operate out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin according to their official website.
Beaschler encouraged those interested in supporting Milwaukee Athletics or contributing directly to programs like track & field or basketball teams by reaching out via email.
