The Milwaukee men’s swimming and diving team commenced its season at the Wisconsin Showcase in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. The Panthers secured eight first-place finishes during the event. Among the winners were Ben Lorenz, Charlie House, Gunnar Seversen, Jay Jensen, and Ben Stitgen. The 200 freestyle relay team also achieved first place with a time of 1:23.58.

Charlie House excelled by winning both the 100 and 200 freestyles with times of 46.52 and 1:43.28 respectively. Gunnar Seversen, making his collegiate debut, claimed victory in the 500 freestyle (4:41.84) and the 400 individual medley (4:08.20).

Ben Lorenz topped the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.87, while Jay Jensen completed the swimming victories by securing first place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:55.23.

In diving events, Ben Stitgen won both the 1m dive with a score of 257.63 and the 3m dive scoring 275.85. Azaan McCray took second place in the 1m dive (234.98), and Will Francis finished second in the 3m dive (219.83).

“It’s always fun to see and race our friends from across the state,” said head coach Kyle Clements. “It’s too early in the season for all of us to judge where we will be in February, but this meet gives us a glimpse of where we are now. For us there is a lot of work to be done but initial times have been thrown down, and now we have to build upon them.”

The Panthers’ next competition is scheduled for Saturday, October 26 at Klotsche Natatorium when they host IU Indianapolis for their first dual meet of the season.
