The Milwaukee track and field program earned 11 spots on the 2026 Valeo Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic teams, as announced by the Horizon League on May 27.

On the women’s side, Isabel Roloff, Anna Szepieniec, Olivia VanZeeland, and Kallie Volk were named to the all-academic team. Katie Burns received honorable mention recognition. For the men, Karsten Grundahl, Zac Schmidt, and Sam Schreiber made the team while Anthony Buford, Josh Cygan, and Tim Maidment received honorable mentions.

Roloff is a senior accounting major with a 4.00 GPA who competed in both the 100-meter dash and pole vault this season. She set a personal-best time of 12.08 seconds in the 100-meter at Louisville’s Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open and cleared 3.67 meters in pole vault at the same meet to finish third. Szepieniec holds a 3.77 GPA as a kinesiology major and was named Alfreeda Goff Horizon League Outdoor Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Year after breaking school records in long jump (6.35 meters) at Louisville’s meet and winning multiple events at conference championships.

VanZeeland has a 3.92 GPA in kinesiology and won four high jump titles during her senior outdoor campaign with a season-best mark of 1.74 meters at Duke Invitational. Volk maintained a perfect GPA while achieving personal bests across five events this year; she was also recognized as Women’s Championship Outstanding Performer/Field recently at conference championships.

Among men honorees: Grundahl is a finance major with a perfect GPA who posted his best-ever time (1:52.11) in the 800-meter event at Louisville’s meet; Schmidt recorded personal-bests in both sprints with his top time (47.16) ranking sixth all-time for Milwaukee’s program; Schreiber excelled in steeplechase with one of Milwaukee’s fastest times ever (9:04.14) at Duke Invitational.

Buford contributed points across multiple events including relays while earning an honorable mention alongside Cygan—who won three discus titles—and Maidment—who achieved podium finishes in long jump competitions throughout championship meets.

The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team participates in indoor and outdoor meets during each season, contributes to athletic tradition at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, supports student-athletes balancing academics with athletics, and competes as part of NCAA Division I within Horizon League competition from its base in Milwaukee, according to the official website.
