The Milwaukee Panthers men’s track and field team will compete in the Ashton May Invitational at UW-La Crosse’s Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex on April 1, with field events starting at noon and running events beginning at 1:30 p.m.

This meet is part of the team’s ongoing outdoor season, which follows a strong start highlighted by notable performances last weekend. The Panthers participate in both indoor and outdoor meets during their season, according to the official website.

Last week, select athletes took part in NC State’s Raleigh Relays in North Carolina while others competed at Illinois State’s Joyce Morton-Kief Invitational. Natalie Block broke her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.27 seconds, finishing third. She also placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and earned her sixteenth weekly Horizon League accolade for her efforts. Anna Szepieniec ended sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.96 meters after being named the Alfreeda Goff Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year for this season.

At Illinois State, freshman Nolie Anderson won the discus title with a throw of 44.97 meters, ranking fifth all-time for Milwaukee. On the men’s side, Josh Cygan was recognized as Horizon League Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after recording one of Milwaukee’s top ten hammer throw marks (52.49 meters) and finishing second in discus (52.81 meters). In addition, Ty Bauschelt ran Milwaukee’s sixth-fastest ever time for the 400 meters (47.89), followed closely by Zac Schmidt (47.92) and Anthony Buford (48.69). Buford currently leads all Horizon League athletes this season in long jump after his performance at Raleigh Relays.

The Panthers have already secured six spots on their program’s top-ten outdoor records list this year across several events including sprints, hurdles, throws, and distance races.

The team contributes to athletic tradition at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as part of NCAA Division I competition within the Horizon League according to its official website. The program operates from Milwaukee and supports student-athletes balancing academics with athletics according to its official website.

Looking ahead, athletes are scheduled to compete next week at both Duke University’s Duke Invitational from April 9-11 and Marquette University’s Marquette Invitational from April 10-11.
