The Milwaukee Panthers men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the final day of Illinois’ Gary Wieneke Memorial on May 2, marking their last event before the upcoming Horizon League Championships.
This competition served as a key preparation for the Panthers ahead of the conference championships scheduled for May 8-10 in Rochester, Michigan. The team participates in both indoor and outdoor meets during their season, according to the official website.
On the men’s side, Anthony Buford achieved second place in the long jump with an outdoor season-best of 7.24 meters. Ty Bauschelt finished third in the 400-meter dash with a personal best time of 47.20 seconds, which is now fifth all-time in program history for that event. For the women, Katie Burns led with a runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash at 55.40 seconds—her second-fastest time this outdoor season as a senior.
Other notable performances included Angelica Refinski’s ninth-place result (12.23) and Victoria Evtimov’s twelfth-place showing (12.43) in the women’s 100-meter dash. In hurdles, Brooke Crosby took sixth place with a season-best of 14.26 seconds while Victoria Spagnola placed tenth at 14.63 seconds. Nolie Anderson made her first shot put appearance this outdoor season with an effort of 8.51 meters; Mercedes Hererra (37.59 meters) and Adeline Wind (33.35 meters) both reached top-10 finishes in discus.
