The Milwaukee Panthers track and field teams are scheduled to compete in the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open in Louisville and the Drake Alternative at UW-Whitewater on Friday and Saturday, according to an April 23 announcement.
These events come as the Panthers continue their outdoor season, building on recent performances at the Gibson Invitational hosted by Indiana State and the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran. The team participates in both indoor and outdoor meets during their season, according to the official website.
At their last competitions, Anna Szepieniec won the long jump with a leap of 6.09 meters at the Gibson Invite, also setting personal bests in both javelin (30.75 meters) and the 200-meter dash (24.11), which now ranks third in program history. Olivia VanZeeland cleared 1.70 meters to win her third consecutive high jump event, while Macy Woodward tied for second with a personal best that is now tied-seventh all-time for Milwaukee.
Katie Burns recorded two top-five finishes at Indiana State: fourth place in the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 24.38 seconds, and third place in the 400-meter run with a time of 55.12 seconds. Burns joined Victoria Evtimov, Angelica Refinski, and Isabel Roloff to win the women’s 4×100-meter relay; their time currently ranks second in Horizon League standings.
For men’s events, Ty Bauschelt finished second in both his individual race (400 meters) with a time of 47.47 seconds as well as part of a relay team alongside Anthony Buford, Zac Schmidt, and Matt Scardina who completed their event in 3:19.19 minutes. Brendan Vlasak achieved personal bests in both hurdle races.
The Panthers have secured fourteen spots so far this outdoor season within their Top-10 program records across multiple disciplines including sprints, jumps, throws, hurdles, steeplechase—and continue contributing to athletic tradition at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee according to its official website.
The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track & Field Team is affiliated with University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; it operates from Milwaukee while competing as part of NCAA Division I’s Horizon League according to its official website. The program supports student-athletes balancing academics alongside athletics throughout competition seasons according to its official website.
Looking ahead after these meets this weekend—the final regular season contests—select athletes will participate next week at Illinois’ Gary Wieneke Memorial or Wisconsin’s Badger Challenge May 1–2.
