The Milwaukee Panthers women’s tennis team lost to Stetson on March 26, concluding their Florida trip at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. The match marked the first meeting between the two programs, with Stetson extending its winning streak to ten matches this season.

This result is significant as it comes against a strong opponent; Stetson is the reigning two-time ASUN champion and has now won eleven consecutive home matches since February. The Panthers, who have a record of 5-10, will now turn their focus to upcoming conference play.

Head coach Mark Goldin said, “It was a tough loss, but the team battled hard all match. We ended up with numerous close matches. Stetson is playing some really good tennis and continued that today. We are feeling good about the level that we are competing at going into conference.” Goldin also said, “We are getting healthier and getting better every day. We look forward to getting back home and can’t wait for next weekend.”

In doubles play, Nadiia Konieva and Sara Simonova were ahead in their tiebreaker when the doubles point was clinched by Stetson. Elisa Rubio and Honoka Yamashita started strong at No. 3 doubles but could not hold onto their lead. In singles competition, Rubio narrowly lost her match after three sets.

The Milwaukee Panthers Women’s Tennis Team engages in dual matches and seasonal tournaments, according to the official website. The program bolsters the athletic legacy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as stated on its official website and forms part of Panthers athletics at UWM. The team follows NCAA Division I guidelines according to its official site and aims to help student-athletes balance academics with sports commitments as noted online.

Looking ahead, Milwaukee resumes conference action with home matches starting April 3 against Youngstown State.
