The Milwaukee Panthers women’s tennis team will travel to DeLand, Florida, for a pair of matches against North Alabama and Stetson during their spring break trip, according to a Mar. 24 announcement. Both contests are scheduled at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center, with play set to begin at 9 a.m. Central Time on Wednesday and Thursday.
This visit marks the first-ever meetings between Milwaukee and both North Alabama and Stetson in program history. The trip is part of the team’s ongoing season that includes dual matches and tournaments, as outlined by the official website of the Milwaukee Panthers Women’s Tennis Team according to the official website.
The Mandy Stoll Tennis Center serves as home court for Stetson University’s tennis program. Built in 1996 on DeLand’s eastside campus, it features six courts with plans for expansion, an electronic scoreboard, gazebos, bleachers, and other amenities. The center is named after Mandy Marie Stoll, who was recognized as one of the top players in program history before her passing in 1988.
The Panthers enter this week’s competition with a record of 5-8 despite injuries affecting key players throughout their lineup. In their most recent match on March 14 against Oakland University—the start of Horizon League play—Milwaukee lost narrowly by a score of 4-3 but saw strong performances from Nadiia Konieva and Nel Van Hout.
North Alabama arrives following a successful previous season that included two wins in the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament before falling short against top-seeded Stetson in last year’s final. This spring they hold a record of 12-3 after seeing their ten-match win streak end recently against North Florida.
Stetson also boasts an impressive record this season at 12-4 overall with nine consecutive victories entering these matches. Last year they won both conference regular-season and tournament titles before competing in the NCAA Tournament.
Head coach Mark Goldin leads Milwaukee into his third year at the helm after guiding them through challenges last season including significant injuries yet achieving notable wins such as their first ever over Marquette University. Goldin previously served as an assistant coach for Milwaukee from 2009 through 2012 and has contributed significantly to raising program standards over time.
The roster reflects diversity with athletes representing eight different countries while balancing academic responsibilities alongside athletics as noted on the official website. The team competes under NCAA Division I guidelines according to its official site and contributes actively to athletic life at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as stated online.
After returning from Florida, Milwaukee will resume conference action with home matches starting April 3 against Youngstown State.
