The Milwaukee women’s tennis team concluded their road trip with a match against Cleveland State, the top-ranked team in the 2025 Horizon League Preseason Poll. The match resulted in a 6-1 loss for the Panthers on Sunday morning at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.

The Panthers, now 6-13 overall and winless in their first three Horizon League matches, were without key player Nikola Nikolajeva. The team had to adjust their lineup, which head coach Mark Goldin acknowledged after the match. “Tough one against Cleveland State today,” Goldin said. “Nikola Nikolajeva wasn’t able to go today, so we had to move around the lineup. The girls fought hard, including a solid win for Laure Razet at No. 2 singles. Now we have some time to rest and get back to full strength before next weekend.”

Cleveland State took control early, sweeping the doubles competition to gain the initial point. In singles play, the Vikings maintained their dominance, with only Laure Razet securing a win for Milwaukee. Razet triumphed over Sima Heren in a hard-fought match, sealing her victory with scores of 4-6, 6-2, and 1-0 (10-8) in the No. 2 singles position.

Looking ahead, the Panthers remain on the road for their next encounters against DePaul on April 11 and Chicago State on April 12.
