The Milwaukee men’s track and field team competed in two separate meets on May 1, participating in Wisconsin’s Badger Invite and Illinois’ Gary Wieneke Memorial.
These competitions are part of the team’s regular season, which includes both indoor and outdoor events according to the official website. The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as reported by the official website.
At the Badger Invite in Madison, Tim Maidment achieved a fourth-place finish in the long jump with an outdoor season-best mark of 6.63 meters. Alexander Maggit also recorded his best outdoor performance at 6.43 meters. In discus, Josh Cygan threw for 52.79 meters to secure ninth place, narrowly missing his season-best set previously in Louisville. Aiden Janke set a personal record with a throw of 46.60 meters.
Other notable performances included Trevor Boyer’s javelin throw of 35.99 meters, followed closely by Nick O’Halloran (35.76m) and Trent Oiler (30.52m). Bradyn Thomas matched his outdoor season-best pole vault at 4.38 meters while Tyler Dahlie finished third in triple jump with a distance of 13.79 meters.
Talon Gamez placed sixth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:57.60; Oiler was sixth in the 100-meter dash at 11.24 seconds; Sam Schrieber led Panthers runners in the 1500-meter race at a time of 3:55.34, followed by Alex Anewenter (3:59.16 personal record) and Zach Moss (4:04.11).
At Illinois’ Gary Wieneke Memorial meet held in Urbana-Champaign, Anthony Buford was Milwaukee’s only male competitor, finishing eighth overall after running a career-best time of 21.98 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
The Panthers contribute to athletic tradition at their university according to their official website and compete as part of NCAA Division I within the Horizon League as stated on their official page.
Looking ahead, Milwaukee will continue competition during day two at Illinois’ Gary Wieneke Memorial hosted at Demerjian Park beginning at noon Central Time on Saturday.
