The Milwaukee track and field teams participated in two events on Friday, marking a successful weekend at both the Gibson Invitational and the Phil Esten Challenge.

At the Phil Esten Challenge hosted by UW-La Crosse, the Panthers competed in the 10,000m run. Cullen Boyle and Bryce Tome achieved new top-10 records within the school’s history. Tome’s time of 30:59.31 earned him the eighth spot on the program’s rankings and placed him 11th overall for the day. Boyle followed closely, climbing to ninth on the all-time list with a time of 31:09.71, securing the 15th place in the competition. Anna Gallagher was Milwaukee’s representative for the women’s event, completing her run in 38:32.69.

The Gibson Invitational in Terre Haute highlighted the second day’s action, with notable performances in various events. Freshman Josh Cygan stood out in the discus throw, recording a best toss of 51.61m, which moved him to seventh place on the program’s all-time leaderboard. In the men’s 5000m run, Will Whiteis led the team, finishing second out of 52 competitors with a time of 14:55.96. Nathan Powley also participated, completing the race in 15:51.66. On the women’s side, Sara Jochims achieved a personal best time of 19:01.13, with Isabella Switalski finishing in 19:16.79.

Anna Szepieniec gathered 4,016 points across the first six heptathlon events, highlighted by a leading long jump performance of 5.82m. However, she did not participate in the 800m run. Meanwhile, Kallie Volk competed in both the long jump, reaching 5.26m, and the javelin, at 27.78m, collecting 3,262 points over the five events she entered. In the men’s decathlon, Nick O’Halloran finished his first collegiate competition with a total of 4,054 points over ten events.

The Gibson Invitational is set to conclude tomorrow, with field events beginning at 10:00 a.m. CT and track events starting at 11:00 a.m. CT.
