The Milwaukee track and field teams will compete at the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier on Thursday, May 14, according to a May 13 announcement. The event will take place at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
This competition follows the Horizon League Outdoor Championships, where the Milwaukee women finished second overall and the men placed third. The women’s team scored 163.5 points, coming within 8.5 points of league champion Youngstown State. Kallie Volk was recognized as Championship Outstanding Performer for field events, while Nevia Levenhagen received Freshman of the Year honors for field events after winning the long jump with a leap of 6.12 meters—marking the third-best distance in program history.
Anna Szepieniec won an individual title in triple jump with a career-best of 12.13 meters and also finished second in both heptathlon and the 100-meter hurdles. Emma Johnson took first place in pole vault with a personal record of 3.92 meters, while Olivia VanZeeland was runner-up in high jump. On the track side, Katie Burns secured third place finishes in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes; Victoria Spagnola also earned third in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal best time.
For the men’s team, Ty Bauschelt was named Horizon League Freshman of the Year for running events after breaking both meet and program records by winning the 400-meter dash in 46.53 seconds; Zac Schmidt followed as runner-up with his own personal best time. The relay team composed of Anthony Buford, Karsten Grundahl, Schmidt, and Bauschelt claimed victory in their event as well.
Josh Cygan defended his discus title while adding a second-place finish in hammer throw; Bishop Bufford (second), Tyler Dahlie (third), and Kyril Griffin (fourth) helped Milwaukee dominate triple jump standings.
Throughout this outdoor season so far, Panthers athletes have earned or improved upon top-10 marks across multiple disciplines—including sprints, jumps, throws, relays—reflecting depth across both squads.
The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team participates annually in indoor and outdoor meets during its season schedule as part of NCAA Division I competition within the Horizon League according to their official website.
