The Horizon League has released its Preseason Poll for the 2025 Outdoor Track & Field season. The Milwaukee men’s team is predicted to finish second, while the women’s team is expected to secure third place. These predictions are based on votes from the league’s head coaches.

The men’s team received 56 points and one first-place vote, trailing Youngstown State, which garnered 63 points and seven first-place votes. During the indoor season, Milwaukee’s men finished second at the Horizon League Championships. Key performers included Bryant McLaughlin, who was named Co-Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet after winning the high jump, and Anthony Buford, who earned Freshman Field Athlete of the Year with a career-best long jump of 7.20m.

Sophomore Jaelyn Reeves-Lile aims to continue his successful indoor season into spring. He broke school records in multiple events and won the title in the 200m dash at the league meet. Liam Richards will also return to defend his decathlon crown after securing his second consecutive heptathlon title indoors.

On the women’s side, Milwaukee was placed third in their preseason poll with 85 points and one first-place vote, just behind Purdue Fort Wayne (87) and Youngstown State (90). The women concluded their indoor season by finishing third at the Horizon League Championships. Anelise Egge stood out as she won Outstanding Running Performer of the Meet honors.

Egge set new program records in both mile run and 3000m run during her indoor campaign. She became Horizon League Champion in mile run while securing runner-up positions in both 800m and 3000m runs.

Dominique Thomas will look to translate her success as a two-time league champion in indoor sprints to outdoor events this year. Anna Szepieniec seeks another heptathlon title following an impressive indoor performance where she broke school records in pentathlon scoring.

Milwaukee athletes are set to begin their outdoor season competing at North Carolina State’s Raleigh Relays from March 27-29 and Illinois State’s Redbird Challenge from March 28-29.
