The Milwaukee swim and dive teams began their campaign at the Horizon League Championships in Indianapolis, with notable performances on the first day of competition hosted by IU Indy at the IU Natatorium.
The women’s team is currently in third place with 90 points. The highlight of the day was the women’s 200 medley relay victory. Mara Freeman, Gabrielle LePine, Maddi Hayashi, and Christiana Brooks finished first with a time of 1:40.02, which is now the second-fastest mark for this event in Panther history.
Another strong result came from Natalie DiProspero, Erika Thomas, Catelyn Fonda, and Audrey Dixon, who placed third in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:28.93.
In diving events, Kristina Wittmann and Rianna Dobbie secured the top two positions in the 3-meter dive consolation final. Wittmann scored 257.55 points while Dobbie earned 236.20 points.
On the men’s side, Sam Lorenz, Andrew Jones, Caleb Carlisle, and Charlie House set a new school record by finishing fourth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:26.36. In the last event of the day, Gunnar Seversen, Charlie House, Josh Crook, and Jean Ducastel took fifth place in the 800 freestyle relay (6:34.38).
The Panthers will continue competing on Thursday at IU Natatorium for day two of the championships starting at 9:00 a.m., with streaming available on ESPN+.
The Milwaukee Panthers Women’s Swimming and Diving Team represents the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in NCAA Division I competition within the Horizon League.
