The Milwaukee women’s basketball team secured a decisive victory against Carroll with a 74-49 win in their home opener at the Klotsche Center. The Panthers outperformed Carroll by a 42-18 margin in the second half, thanks to significant contributions from several players.
Kamy Peppler achieved her first career double-double, contributing 11 points and 10 assists. Kacee Baumhower and Izzy Pugh each scored 14 points, while Anna Lutz added 12 points. Both Pugh and Lutz made six field goals during the game.
At halftime, Milwaukee held a narrow one-point lead of 32-31. However, they gained momentum after the break with a 13-point run, including three three-pointers from Peppler. This surge gave them a commanding 45-31 lead.
“After missing out on some touches down low in the first half, we made adjustments as a team,” said head coach Kyle Rechlicz. “It was awesome to see Kamy come out with three big shots in the second half … that really took Carroll out of their rhythm and down from the level they were playing at in the first half.”
Milwaukee’s performance improved significantly in the second half, making 17-of-31 field goals and six of eleven three-point attempts. Their defense limited Carroll to just eight field goals on twenty-nine attempts and no successful three-pointers.
Overall, Milwaukee recorded 24 assists on their 30 field goals. Jada Donaldson supported Peppler with seven assists. The Panthers also won the rebounding contest with a total of forty rebounds compared to Carroll’s thirty-five.
As the game continued, Milwaukee extended their lead to as much as twenty-five points twice in the fourth quarter. Hallie Majoros hit a three-pointer to make it 70-45, and Pugh closed scoring with an offensive rebound for two more points.
All twelve players for Milwaukee contributed to the scoresheet. Kallie Peppler scored six points from two first-half three-pointers, while Donaldson, Majoros, and Sophia Rampulla each added three points.
Milwaukee capitalized on fifteen turnovers by Carroll for seventeen points and scored sixteen second-chance points from ten offensive rebounds. Natalie Gricius led Carroll with fourteen points; Olivia Rangel added ten points and six rebounds.
Carroll ended shooting thirty-two point eight percent overall and six-of-seventeen from beyond the arc.
