The Milwaukee women’s soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne at the Hefner Soccer Complex on Sunday. This win extends their unbeaten streak in regular-season Horizon League play to 25 games, with the Panthers now holding a record of 6-6-2 overall and 5-0-1 in the league.

Kayla Rollins opened the scoring for Milwaukee with a penalty kick just four minutes into the match. “I’ll always say it … winning is hard and it’s definitely hard to win games on the road in this conference,” said head coach Kevin Boyd. Despite not being fully satisfied with their performance, Boyd acknowledged the importance of securing goals.

Lainey Higgins contributed her eighth goal of the season before halftime, reinforcing her position as a leading scorer in the Horizon League. Boyd praised her development: “She has started stepping up and becoming a goal-scoring presence with her head now, which we love.”

Goalkeeper Parker Donahugh had an easy day, needing only one save to achieve her fifth shutout in six matches. Her efforts have reduced her goals-against average in conference games to 0.17.

Boyd noted the challenges faced during the game: “It’s very difficult to play, especially on different surfaces…To Fort Wayne’s credit, I thought they played hard.” Despite these difficulties, Milwaukee managed to maintain control and secure three points on the road.

The Panthers kept pressure on their opponents throughout, creating several opportunities but failing to convert more chances into goals. They ended with a total of 13 shots compared to Purdue Fort Wayne’s nine and dominated shots on goal by eight to one.

Looking ahead, Milwaukee will host Robert Morris at Engelmann Stadium on Thursday evening.
