The Milwaukee women’s tennis team is preparing for a series of matches in Chicago this weekend as they continue their four-match stretch on the road. They are set to face DePaul on Friday and Chicago State on Saturday.

Friday’s match against DePaul will be held at XS Tennis Village beginning at 11:30 a.m. The venue, located on Chicago’s South Side, is a $16.9 million facility that opened in 2018 and includes both indoor and outdoor courts, a fitness center, and a gym. Saturday’s match against Chicago State is scheduled for 3 p.m. at H-F Racquet & Fitness Club located in Homewood, Illinois.

The Panthers enter this weekend holding a 6-13 overall record and have yet to win in their conference with an 0-3 record. They are coming off a challenging weekend facing top teams from the Horizon League Preseason Poll.

DePaul, under the guidance of head coach Marisa Arce, is currently 9-10 this spring. The team previously excelled last season, finishing with a 17-8 record and advancing to the Big East Championship match. DePaul has recently struggled, losing consecutive matches to teams like Villanova and UConn. However, standout performances in singles and doubles come courtesy of Sasha Stula and Eva Goncharov, as well as Hannah Smith.

Chicago State, led by the newly appointed coach Keiran President, is yet to win a match this season with an 0-11 record. Last season, they made an impressive run to the NCAA Tournament.

Milwaukee’s Nikola Nikolajeva has been a key player, recently earning the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week honors. Her exceptional performance included a decisive win against Western Illinois, contributing to Milwaukee’s recent successes.

Head Coach Mark Goldin expects strong performances from a roster composed of international talents. The team was ranked third in the 2025 Horizon League preseason poll, and they aim to build on last season’s results, where they finished as the No. 4 seed for the Horizon League Tournament.

Milwaukee is anticipating their remaining schedule, which includes home games against IU Indy and Northern Kentucky following their Chicago matches.
