The Milwaukee track & field team received two Horizon League Athlete of the Week awards, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Sam Schreiber and Rachel Helm were named runners of the week following their performances at the Panther Tune-Up, which took place in the Klotsche Center. Schreiber earned his first weekly indoor track & field honor after finishing third in the mile run with a personal-best time of 4:15.81. His result currently ranks 13th in the Horizon League.
Helm was recognized with her first track & field weekly award after winning the mile run. She achieved a personal best time of 4:58.48, which is now sixth in the Panther record books and seventh in the Horizon League for that event.
The Panthers are preparing for the Horizon League Indoor Championships, which will be hosted by Youngstown State in Youngstown, Ohio, from February 28 to March 1. The first events are scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. CT.
The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team participates in both indoor and outdoor meets during their season and competes as part of NCAA Division I within the Horizon League. The team is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and operates out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
