U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, called on May 12 for the Department of Health and Human Services to promptly provide records related to pediatric deaths following COVID-19 vaccination.
Johnson sent a letter to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., secretary of HHS, after receiving an internal Food and Drug Administration memorandum that described 96 pediatric deaths following COVID-19 vaccination. Some cases were labeled as “possibly” or “probably” related to the vaccine. The document was produced four months after Johnson’s initial request for information.
In his letter, Johnson said, “We must speed up the discovery process. As a result, I am requesting, at your earliest convenience, a meeting with you and the officials within HHS that can discuss how to make that happen.” He also wrote, “The public deserves complete transparency about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines. HHS must ensure that there is no delay in achieving that objective.”
This recent communication follows previous findings by Johnson’s subcommittee regarding what he describes as failures by Biden administration officials to warn about safety risks associated with COVID-19 vaccines such as myocarditis and ischemic stroke. Nearly two weeks ago, Johnson held a hearing and released an interim Majority staff report indicating health officials knew their vaccine safety analytic system was insufficient but did not implement an updated system.
To date, Johnson has released over 5,000 pages of HHS records supporting these findings. His office provides various services for Wisconsin residents including arranging flags flown over the Capitol for special occasions and offering constituent assistance through locations in Milwaukee, Madison, Oshkosh and Washington according to the official website.
Johnson resides in Oshkosh with his family and participates in several Senate committees focused on finance, budget issues and support for seniors according to the official website.
