On June 16, Sen. Testin addressed claims regarding special education funding in Wisconsin. He stated that “Democrats will tell you that Joint Finance Committee Republicans are not doing enough to fund special education in Wisconsin.” However, he countered this by asserting that their proposal includes a higher reimbursement rate than what Governor Tony Evers had requested during his tenure as state superintendent.
The following day, June 17, Sen. Testin highlighted National Eat Your Vegetables Day by emphasizing the agricultural significance of his district. He noted that “this day is particularly meaningful to the 24th Senate District since we are among the country’s leaders in producing potatoes and vegetables.” The region’s unique sandy soils and access to irrigation have contributed to its status as a hub for large-scale vegetable production.
On June 18, Sen. Testin celebrated National Go Fishing Day by acknowledging its economic importance to Wisconsin. He remarked that “it is estimated that fishing has an annual impact of $2.3 billion on Wisconsin’s economy.” Encouraging residents to participate in fishing activities, he added humorously that “after all, a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at” work or other pursuits.
