Senator Ron Johnson, a Republican from Wisconsin who has won three consecutive U.S. Senate elections since 2010, recently posted a series of tweets addressing concerns about federal oversight and law enforcement.
On October 10, 2025, Johnson called for increased transparency from federal agencies regarding alleged surveillance of Republican lawmakers. He wrote, “Full transparency from the FBI and DOJ will be required to expose who approved and knew about the snooping on 9 Republican members of Congress. See the letter that @ChuckGrassley, 16 of our colleagues, and I sent to @TheJusticeDept and @FBI requesting their cooperation. Read https://t.co/YUfFS0DuOM”. The tweet referenced a formal request made by Johnson, Senator Chuck Grassley, and other senators seeking information from the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
A minute later, Johnson shared another post containing only a link: “https://t.co/iBPyJYs4X6” (October 10, 2025).
Later that day, Johnson commented on the work of media personality Benny Johnson. In his tweet, he stated, “.@bennyjohnson does a marvelous job describing the current reality and demonstrating true gratitude to the men and women in law enforcement who sacrifice to keep us safe. God bless Benny and his family and keep them safe. https://t.co/A4rPn3HGBH” (October 10, 2025).
Senator Ron Johnson has held his seat since defeating Russ Feingold in both the 2010 (51.9% to 47%) and 2016 (50.2% to 46.8%) general elections, as well as Mandela Barnes in the closely contested 2022 race (50.4% to 49.4%).
