Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Chairman Ron Johnson and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley have requested records from the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) regarding the Biden administration’s involvement in investigations related to former presidential candidate Donald Trump. The senators are also initiating an inquiry into NARA and its Inspector General’s role in these investigations.

The request includes:

– All records among the Department of Justice (DOJ), FBI, and Biden White House officials concerning President Trump’s election interference case, initially known as the Arctic Frost investigation, which later became part of Jack Smith’s elector case.
– All records among DOJ, FBI, and Biden White House officials regarding the investigation into President Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified information.
– All NARA records, including those from the NARA Office of Inspector General, relating to both the Arctic Frost and classified document investigations.

The full letter to NARA can be accessed for more details.

Previous actions related to Arctic Frost oversight include:

– On April 9, 2025: Senators Johnson and Grassley released additional Arctic Frost records detailing a broad anti-Trump investigation.
– On March 14, 2025: They released records showing that the FBI obtained cell phones from Trump and Pence and conducted extensive interviews as part of the Arctic Frost investigation.
– On February 25, 2025: They called for an investigation into potential criminal leaks and violations of FBI information-sharing policies.
– On January 30, 2025: Whistleblower records were made public by Senators Johnson and Grassley revealing a DOJ and FBI plot against Trump in Jack Smith’s elector case.
