Wauwatosa native Hailey Danz has won a silver medal in the women's paratriathlon at the Tokyo Paralympic games in August.

The gold medal was won by fellow American, Allysa Seely, according to Milwaukee Magazine. The two women also took gold and silver in the same event during the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

"It’s a @TeamUSA 1-2 finish as @AllysaSeely and Hailey Danz take the top spots," The Tokyo Paralympics wrote in an Aug. 27 Twitter post.

Danz took an early lead during the first 5-kilometer biking segment of the race, but was eventually overtaken by Seely in the third lap of the run. She took almost 10 minutes off her race time from the Rio Paralympics, coming in at the Tokyo Paralympics with a time of 1:14:58.

"Another Wisconsinite making us proud. Congratulations @HailStormUSA," Wisconsin State Sen. Tammy Baldwin wrote in an Aug. 31 Twitter post.

The Wauwatosa East High School graduate also has a 2019 Tokyo ITU Paratriathlon World Cup victory, six total World Championships medals and a 2013 World title in addition to her two silver medals.

Danz was one of two athletes to represent Milwaukee County at the Tokyo Paralympics. Jake Williams, a Milwaukee resident and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater graduate competed as a member of the U.S. wheelchair basketball team.
