U.S. Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin has collaborated with Senator Tommy Tuberville from Alabama and 28 other Republican colleagues to reintroduce the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. This legislative effort aims to uphold Title IX protections for female athletes, countering recent changes by the Biden administration's Department of Education (ED).

The proposed legislation seeks to reverse a rule that compels schools to allow males access to private spaces designated for females and permits their participation in women's sports. The act stipulates that gender should be defined based on "a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth" under Title IX provisions. Additionally, it prohibits federally funded entities from supporting or facilitating athletic programs that allow males to compete in women’s sporting events.

This initiative is supported by organizations such as Independent Women’s Voice, Concerned Women for America, Heritage Action for America, and Family Policy Alliance.
