U.S. Senator Ron Johnson from Wisconsin has joined forces with Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and eight other Republican senators to introduce the Thin Blue Line Act. This proposed legislation aims to increase penalties for those who target law enforcement officers, firefighters, and first responders.

Currently, federal law considers the targeting, killing, or attempted killing of federal law enforcement officers, judges, and correctional officers as an aggravating factor when deciding on imposing the federal death penalty. The Thin Blue Line Act seeks to extend these protections to include state and local police, firefighters, and other first responders.

The group of senators supporting this initiative includes John Boozman from Arkansas, John Kennedy from Louisiana, Bill Hagerty from Tennessee, Rick Scott from Florida, John Hoeven from North Dakota, Marsha Blackburn also from Tennessee, Ted Budd from North Carolina, and James Lankford from Oklahoma.

The full text of the legislation is available for public viewing.
