Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is gearing up to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week from May 5 to May 9, 2025. This initiative is an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of approximately 5,000 educators employed by MPS, who are integral to shaping the lives and futures of students.
“Thank you, educators, for the lasting impression you make on our young people, through your hard work, dedication, and caring,” MPS stated in their announcement. The educators not only provide basic academic instruction but also support special needs, college and career readiness, as well as bilingual and multicultural opportunities. Their role extends beyond academics, as they also care about students' lives outside the classroom.
The district is inviting the community to express gratitude to teachers, whether past or present, during this special week. MPS also highlighted the significant impact teachers can have throughout their students’ lives. “Teachers have the power to change lives and to be an influence long after their students graduate,” the statement emphasized.
Moreover, the school district is encouraging individuals interested in making a difference to consider teaching as a career. Teacher positions are currently available due to a nationwide demand, and positions with MPS can be found at mpsmke.com/careers.
Families are also encouraged to share their acknowledgment and support through MPS's social media channels, including Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and Instagram. “Thank you to every one of the more than 5,000 teachers who work for MPS! Our students, families, and the community appreciate the dedication and hard work that teachers put in every day,” the statement concluded.
