Three Milwaukee athletes earn Academic All-District honors

College Sports Communicators has announced its 2024-25 Academic All-District Teams, recognizing the academic and athletic achievements of women’s basketball players. Three student-athletes from Milwaukee have been honored: Kacee Baumhower, Anna Lutz, and Kamy Peppler.

Baumhower is in her first year with the Panthers and is pursuing a marketing graduate certificate. She entered the spring term with a 3.59 GPA. On the court, she led the team in scoring with an average of 11.8 points per game, totaling 378 points for the season. She also had a team-high of 55 three-pointers and contributed 73 assists and 35 steals.

Lutz is completing her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in physics at UW-Milwaukee, maintaining a 3.99 GPA. She was Milwaukee’s leading rebounder last season with an average of 5.3 rebounds per game and led scoring in Horizon League contests at 11.5 points per game. Lutz also topped the team with 31 blocks.

Peppler, studying general health sciences, will enter her senior season in 2025-26 with a current GPA of 3.91. She set a junior record for assists in a season with 151 assists and averaged 30.6 minutes per game while being third on the team in scoring with 298 points. Additionally, she led the Panthers with 44 steals.

Both Lutz and Peppler are receiving this honor for the second consecutive year after being named to the Academic All-District Team last season as well.

Milwaukee’s athletes are among thirteen from the Horizon League to be recognized this year by College Sports Communicators. Other schools represented include Purdue Fort Wayne with four honorees, Oakland with three, Detroit Mercy and Youngstown State each having two, and IU Indy along with Wright State each having one.

Eligibility criteria for recognition by College Sports Communicators require undergraduate student-athletes to be sophomores academically and athletically, maintaining at least a cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a scale of 4.0 or graduate students who meet similar academic standards while participating significantly in their team’s contests.
