The Milwaukee Panthers track and field teams have received three Horizon League Athlete of the Week awards, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Anna Szepieniec and Ty Bauschelt were named Runners of the Week, while Kyril Griffin was recognized as Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Szepieniec secured her third Runner of the Week honor and fifth weekly award in her junior season after a strong showing at the Iowa State Classic. She won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.69 seconds and finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.45 seconds. According to the announcement, “Her hurdles time now ranks second on the all-time Panther indoor leaderboard and leads the Horizon League this season.”
Bauschelt earned his first Runner of the Week accolade for his performance at the same meet, where he placed fourth in both the 200-meter dash (22.08) and high jump (1.98 meters).
Griffin received his second Field Athlete of the Week recognition following his triple jump effort at La Crosse’s Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational, where he finished third with a mark of 14.06 meters.
The Milwaukee Panthers Men’s Track and Field Team is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and competes in NCAA Division I as part of the Horizon League, participating in both indoor and outdoor meets during their season according to their official website. The team operates from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, contributes to the university’s athletic tradition, and supports student-athletes balancing academics and athletics.
Next on their schedule are competitions at Grand Valley State’s Big Meet on Friday and DePaul’s Blue Demon Alumni Classic on February 13.
