Nate Hamilton, a 2008 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC), has been named the institution’s featured alumnus for March 2026. Hamilton, who majored in Interdisciplinary Studies, currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at GO Riteway Transportation Group.
Reflecting on his college years, Hamilton said his favorite experiences were traveling abroad with WLC. “My favorite college experience was the opportunity to travel to places I had not experienced before, whether it was our European Choir Tour or our Grenada Mission Trip. Not only was it exciting to explore the various cultures and life around the world, but I was excited to represent WLC and share faith and servant leadership through numerous unique opportunities,” he said.
Hamilton credited Dr. James Nowack and Dorothy Nowack for their mentorship during his time at WLC. “For me, Dr. James Nowack and Dorothy Nowack were extremely impactful during my time at WLC. Their encouragement and mentoring throughout the years in music and academic studies helped shape my success in college and my life after I graduated,” he stated.
After graduation, Hamilton began his career in education at HOPE Schools in Milwaukee before moving into student transportation. He now oversees school bus operations for more than 50 school districts across Wisconsin as part of GO Riteway Transportation Group. “I am blessed to have the career success and opportunities that WLC prepared me for. I started in the education field at the HOPE Schools in Milwaukee, and through connections I made I landed in the student transportation industry. It is a unique business and every day is different, and I am able to apply my studies in both business and education from my time at WLC. I now oversee our school bus operations at GO Riteway for over 50 school districts across the state of Wisconsin,” Hamilton explained.
When asked what advice he would give his younger self, Hamilton replied: “Don’t skip your early AM class to sleep in … it’s not going to help you in the long run!”
He also recalled that hearing “Abide With Me” instantly brings him back to his days with the Wisconsin Lutheran Choir.
Hamilton emphasized community as an important part of his college experience: “WLC is such a welcoming community of individuals – it was easy to make genuine friendships with a number of people with diverse backgrounds and experiences that made my college experience great.”
He described being a Warrior as follows: “Being a Christian servant leader in all aspects of life.”
