Wisconsin School Board Week is being celebrated from October 6 to 12, as declared by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers. The proclamation recognizes the contributions of school boards in over 400 public school districts throughout the state.

The proclamation highlights the role of school boards as “advocates for public education and as essential partners in the state’s efforts to ensure that every kid in Wisconsin has access to high-quality public education.”

Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is participating in this statewide observance, acknowledging the contributions of its board members to children’s education. Tina Owen-Moore, Chief Officer of the Office of Board Governance, stated, “To serve as an elected school board member is an honor that comes with the responsibility to advocate on behalf of all Milwaukee’s children. This Board has navigated the district through significant challenges over the past several months, and we want to take a moment to recognize their service.”
