City of Oak Creek issued the following announcement on June 9.
We've been receiving a number of questions about the "Long Term Closure" message on the reader board that appeared yesterday on Howell Avenue, south of Puetz Road, so we thought we'd shed some light on the subject!
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation currently has a Highway 38 resurfacing project in Racine County. Beginning Monday, June 14, crews will begin to work on two bridges along Hwy. 38 that will require a full closure of the road. The first bridge is on Six Mile Road over the railroad, and the other is the bridge over the Root River, just south of the Milwaukee/Racine County line on Hwy. 38.
The DOT has designated Highway 100 to Highway 32 as the detour route . . . which is why the closure signs appear so far into Oak Creek.
TL:DR - Unless you're heading into or from Racine County, the Highway 38 closure won't affect you!
