Intersport has announced that Milwaukee will play South Dakota State on December 19, 2025, at Fiserv Forum as part of the Milwaukee Hoops Showdown. This game joins a previously scheduled matchup between Wisconsin and Villanova, forming a doubleheader at the venue where the Milwaukee Bucks play.

Game times for both matchups will be released in the coming weeks.

Tickets for the event are now available through the Milwaukee Athletics Ticket Office. Fans can purchase tickets that grant access to both games of the doubleheader by visiting the Panthers Ticket Office website or calling (414) 229-5886. General seating prices range from $60 to $155, with courtside and premium options also offered. Those interested in premium seating should contact the ticket office directly.

This neutral-site event is not included in season ticket packages for Panthers men's basketball. Season ticket holders are advised to buy tickets separately through the provided link or by phone.

Upon purchase, patrons will receive a ticket within their chosen price level. Specific seat assignments—including section, row, and seat number—will be determined later in the fall based on season ticket member and donor status. Tickets will be distributed digitally via Ticket Master accounts ahead of game day, and buyers will be notified by email when this process is complete.

Milwaukee leads South Dakota State 5-1 in their all-time series, having won five consecutive games from 2004 to 2010. South Dakota State won their most recent meeting in 2016 during the Sanford Pentagon Showcase with a score of 81-58.

Bart Lundy returns for his fourth season as head coach of Milwaukee after three straight seasons with at least 20 wins. He holds a record of 63–38 with Milwaukee and has accumulated 492 career coaching victories. The team features a new roster this year, led by senior guard John Lovelace Jr., who played all 32 games last season and averaged 4.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. Six transfers have joined Milwaukee's lineup, including Amar Augillard from Fresno State—who averaged 13.3 points per game last year—and Seth Hubbard from Toledo, who brings experience with nearly 1,000 career points.

South Dakota State enters under first-year head coach Bryan Petersen, who was promoted after serving as an assistant since 2019. During his time on staff, SDSU has posted a record of 129-60 along with four Summit League regular-season titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Jackrabbits have recorded at least 19 wins each of the past four seasons. Sophomore guard Joe Sayler started all games he played last year while averaging nearly 13 points per contest; Kalen Garry contributed over eleven points per game; forward Matthew Mors started every game last season as well.
