A previously shut down Milwaukee nightclub has been renovated and reopened as a local herbal tea shop.
The south side Milwaukee space that was previously occupied by Club Lex has been taken over by developer Ryan Pattee and has been reborn as a Urbal Health location serving loose leaf herbal tea, according to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
"Congratulations to Nick on the grand opening of his business, @urbalhealth, on 13th and Oklahoma," Mayor Tom Barrett wrote in a July 19 Twitter post. "Located in the heart of the Crisol Cooridor BID, this property received a Mayor’s Design Award for transforming a formerly foreclosed building with city support. I wish him success."
Urbal Health was started by Wisconsin native Nick Nowacyzk in 2011 and its products are sold in many locations across the Midwest, but the Milwaukee location is fully their own label and also sells local coffee brews.
"Opening day," Urbal Tea wrote in a July 19 Facebook post. "Beyond grateful for the support we’ve received in this new endeavor. Come join us, and let’s go Bucks!"
Club Lex was shut down after its liquor license was not renewed due to multiple complaints of patrons littering, excessive noise, public urination and fighting.
