Employees of Downtown Milwaukee are invited to participate in Downtown Employee Appreciation Week Aug. 30 to Sept. 3, featuring giveaways and events to celebrate the dedication put forth throughout the year.

Each day of the week, downtown employees can anticipate new events geared toward showing appreciation for their hard work.

"The city joins @MilwDowntown in recognizing all downtown employees for providing the energy, economic vitality and community spirit that makes downtown Milwaukee a great place to work, live and visit," Mayor Tom Barrett said in a tweet.

As downtown begins to reopen and employees return to in-person work, the city hopes to continue its 17-yearlong tradition of giving back to its downtown workforce.

Events kicked off Aug. 30, with an opening ceremony in Red Arrow Park. On Aug. 31, employees were invited to join the "World's Largest Coffee Break," in Catalano Square, offering free java, treats and music to all who participated.

Additional events throughout the week include daily food vendors, pop-up vaccination clinics, trivia, office competitions, games and yoga. Those who get their Downtown Employee Appreciation Week passport stamped at three or more locations will be eligible to win an array of downtown prizes. Passports can be picked up from a public service ambassador at the Milwaukee Downtown info table.
